Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, via FCInter1908.it, has now made a Tottenham Hotspur transfer claim involving Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez.
The Lowdown: Spurs re-join race…
After Tottenham agreed a fee to sign the Argentine last summer, a move which unceremoniously fell through, the Lilywhites and transfer chief Fabio Paratici have been tipped to re-ignite their interest this year.

Calciomercato, sharing news recently, name-dropped Spurs as an interested party with Martinez at a crossroads over his future at the San Siro.
Alongside Spurs, the Italian source suggests that Arsenal are also in the picture and mention a possible battle between the two clubs over Martinez’s signature.
The Latest: Di Marzio makes claim…
Now, sharing what he believes, reliable journalist Di Marzio says a Tottenham bid for the 24-year-old is on the cards.
“Who will Tottenham go to if they qualify for the Champions League? Surely Antonio Conte wants another striker,” he explained (via FC Inter1908.it)
“We know that, even before he arrived at London, Fabio Paratici had tried to take Lautaro Martinez, but then Inter sold Lukaku and could not sell both.
“I expect a possible Tottenham offensive for him. Then it is true that he has renewed, but it is possible that Tottenham can present themselves again and we will see what kind of offer they could present.”
The Verdict: Promising claim…
A big name source like Di Marzio mooting the real possibility of a Spurs bid certainly comes as promising.
Even though chairman Daniel Levy and co will have to smash their transfer record to sign Martinez this summer, there is little doubting he would instantly improve Tottenham and provide real back up for star man Harry Kane.
Scoring 14 goals and assisting two others so far over 2021/2022 in Serie A alone, the South American ace has also been called a ‘magnificent’ player who ‘oozes class’ by members of the English media (Josh Bunting).
He certainly stands out as a potentially brilliant target for Spurs this summer.
