Speaking to MenInRed97.com, Gutierrez revealed that while he has not had any recent conversations with U23 USMNT boss Marko Mitrovic, he still feels in the picture for a potential role in Paris this summer. Gutierrez made two appearances for the U23 USMNT last fall in their October camp, but missed out on the squad in March.

The 20-year-old has three goals and one assist in 13 appearances this season, being one of the lone bright spots in a struggling Chicago side. An option on the wing for Mitrovic, Gutierrez would provide depth in an area with stiff competition for the U.S. this summer. The other left-wing options for the U.S. are Cade Cowell, Griffin Yow and Kevin Paredes – with the latter expected to be the starter.
WHAT GUTIERREZ SAID
“I think I’m still in the picture,” Gutiérrez said. “I really haven’t had conversations with [Marko] or anyone lately, but I feel like I’m still part of the group… Something that every player wants to do is play for their country and represent their country. It’s a really big motivation for me.”
